The General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs has reported a remarkable surge in digital customs transactions across the ports of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in 2023. This surge amounted to an impressive 72% growth compared to figures from 2022, marking a significant leap and the highest recorded rate since the initiation of the strategic transformation journey.

Digital customs transactions skyrocket by 72% in Abu Dhabi

Innovative measures such as proactive and automated transactions constituted 42% of the total customs transactions volume, experiencing a notable growth of 24.3% throughout 2023. Noteworthy among these measures is Abu Dhabi Customs’ provision of proactive insurance refund services within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Additionally, permits for truck transit, entry and exit of goods from customs centers, customs certificates for vehicles, and customs entry and exit certificates were automatically issued alongside customs declarations.

Furthermore, customs declarations saw a 6% uptick over the past year, with pre-arrival customs clearance transactions making up 47% of the total customs clearance procedures across various customs ports in the emirate. This marked a 20% increase compared to 2022. Transactions from express shipping companies saw a 6% increase, while customs clearance within bonded warehouses soared by an impressive 150%. Notably, clearance time saw a 16% enhancement in 2023.

Moreover, Abu Dhabi Customs services attained a commendable 95% satisfaction rating in the customer satisfaction index through the Abu Dhabi Digital Government Services Platform “TAMM”. The surge in digital transactions throughout 2023 underscores the extent of digital transformation at Abu Dhabi Customs and its successful investments in advanced technology. By providing smart solutions and modern systems, the customs authority aims to enhance its customs ecosystem and align with global best practices, thereby bolstering operational efficiency.
